Scenario adds a Blender skill for themed 2D game animation

Skills 0.57.0 adds a workflow for layered game shots: generate art in Scenario, then build animation and physics in Blender. The official example reuses one scene structure across three themes.

Scenario's Agent Skills 0.57.0 release on October 17 adds scenario-blender-2d-animation, a workflow for building side-scrolling shots from AI-generated art. Scenario supplies the pictures and a character run clip; local Blender scripts arrange the layers, animate jumps and simulate props. The outputs are a film and a .blend scene, useful for a platformer's trailer, cutscene or visual pitch.

One shot, three themed versions

The official demonstration shows a 7.7-second shot in three looks: a red panda in a jungle, a black cat on a Halloween street and a snow leopard in a winter valley. Each follows the same animated sequence, with new artwork and a configuration file containing measurements such as the ground line and character size.

The process starts with a concept frame that guides eight further images: environment layers, foreground plants, props, a tree and two character poses. A short image-to-video generation supplies the run cycle. Local tools remove its background, find a loop, separate prop sheets and prepare repeatable scenery.

Blender places the images on flat planes at different depths. An orthographic camera follows the character, and position drivers move the layers at different speeds to create parallax. Jumps use keyframes; falling fruit and the prop tower use rigid-body physics, with collision shapes traced from the images' outlines.

A reusable scene with visual checks

Changing the look still means generating a new art set and run clip, then measuring them. The shared script retains the shot's camera, animation and physics structure. The published example renders at 1920 × 1080 and 24 fps in EEVEE.

The skill's checks cover visible seams, floating feet, background-removal fringes and props leaving the picture plane. The workflow renders review stills before the final film. Its .blend uses relative asset paths, so the associated image folder must travel with the scene.

For engine-ready sprite strips, Scenario points to the separate Side-View Game Kit. The new skill's deliverable is the rendered shot and scene; player controls and gameplay need their own implementation.

Local tools and Scenario generation costs

The workflow requires a Scenario MCP connection, an agent able to run scripts, Blender 5.x, Python 3 with Pillow, NumPy and SciPy, and ffmpeg. The scene builder works with a new Blender file or its own generated scene. The local helpers do not call Scenario; asset generation consumes Scenario credits.

Scenario records 656 CU for the three demonstration looks' 30 completed generations, excluding narration and music. That is a case-specific ledger, not a fixed price for another project. The released workflow discovers available image and video models and estimates costs before generation; different settings and extra attempts change the total.
