Meshy opens its animation library to developer-built tools
A new API brings searchable presets and motion previews into custom workflows. Browsing the library uses no credits; applying an animation is a separate task.

Worth a look if you are building an asset pipeline or an internal animation picker.
Meshy added a way to query its preset animation library on September 4, 2026, according to its official changelog. The update gives developers a new building block for choosing character motions inside their own tools.
Search, categories and motion previews
The new GET /openapi/v1/animations/library endpoint supplies action identifiers, names, categories and GIF previews. It supports search and category filters. Developers can use the results to build an action picker instead of maintaining a copied reference table. See the library documentation.
Browsing and applying are separate steps
Fetching the library consumes no credits. To apply a selected preset, the Animation API takes its action_id together with a completed rigging task's rig_task_id.
As of September 7, the API pricing page lists animation tasks at 3 API credits and auto-rigging at 5 API credits. Library queries are free; rigging a character and generating its animation are charged separately.
API requests also require an API key, as described in Meshy's authentication documentation.
Choosing character motions inside an asset tool
For teams building an asset workflow, an action picker could become part of an internal tool. Artists could browse categories and motion previews, then pass the selected identifier to an animation task, connecting motion selection and generation in the same tool.
If you already choose animations in Meshy's website and do not need an integration, there may be little reason to change your workflow immediately.
